I used to go back in the 90s and it was my favorite show to go to camp site was nuts went last year with out a truck and walked around on Saturday and that show has gone down hill I think but maybe because i didn't have a vehicle in it just didn't feel the same just seemed like there was a bunch of stock diesel trucks there running around

still one of my favorite shows to relax at but 12 or so years ago was my first time going bag trucks were rare ..camping was on top the hilland the lower section behind the hill was a huge party low rollers truck club filled that whole area.you used to show by classand if it wasnt atlered u parked out side..but now with roll up judging its just a huge parking lot you cant really check out interiors cause must are just parked with doors shut.or stock with wheels.still go every year but it used to be a good mini truck show

I have that issue "time machine" BADASS yota!
I've been going since the late 90's, last year was my first year w/ a vehicle there tho. With it being close and such a large show, I've always liked it.
I never stayed real late, so no clue how night life USE to be, lot of b/s this past year, I thought.

Re: carlisle then vs. now.
Wow... good thread.
I went to my first CATN when I was 17. (9 years ago)... I was with the club "Nice Dreams" at the time and the shit was nuts. Cruising into the campground at 10pm Friday night the party was in FULL SWING!!! Right after driving through the main gate and headed into the camping area I was handed a can of beer. Within 2 hours, I was shitfaced watching girls dance in a trailer with like 3 stripper poles. We got drunk, we had fun and Saturday was hungover as hell...
BUT...
EVERYONE was still up early polishing their trucks! (THIS TO ME IS THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE IN CARLISLE THEN V.S. CARLISLE NOW!) People, no matter how hungover, still cared about their trucks being clean and being seen. Nowadays, people get drunk during the day and stay drunk through the night. People are there only to party, and not to appreciate the vehicles...
Sadly, this doesn't just apply to Carlisle. Some show promoters I have talked to have told me of plans to include "beer gardens" into their shows... PERSONALLY, I think thats fucking ridiculous. I mean its one thing to mix alcohol and vehicles, but its even worse to PROMOTE it.
Sorry.. that was kind of a side note.
Carlisle is still a great show and gives you MORE bang for your buck then any other show out there! However, now there are a whole lot more piece of shit trucks, that have owners that are just there to get drunk.

I've definitely noticed people going to shows JUST to party, which is fine to drink, as long as you can control yourself. I guess different people, like different things.

Re: carlisle then vs. now.
i went back in 2000, 2001, and 2002 i believe and they were the best years. If i remember right those were the last years you could camp at the fairgrounds. There were so many people that never even left the camping area and partied all weekend. There were lots of nice trucks and it was a great time. The purple helmet surfers were the biggest partires out on the main fun field by the main gate and had a full bar setup with pool and other games. (I believe they still have the pool) After they cut out the camping we went a couple more years and camped at carlisle campgrounds right up the road but it wasnt the same and then they would let any truck show people camp there. Those were the good days and I have been since but it just isnt the same. Wish they would bring it back
